Across the Broken Stars was featured as the #1 indie book of the week!

Wow – it’s almost been a full week since Across the Broken Stars launched! If you grabbed a copy – thank you! Especially after expressing my doubts about writing in last week’s post, your support means the world to me and I’ve entered 2020 with renewed confidence.

A lot of incredible stuff happened during the launch, and I want to share it with you in this post.

Contents:

1) My book was featured as the #1 indie book of the week.

2) I was on reddit (r/fantasy) as their author of the day.

3) We had an incredible book launch party at my local library, and the whole thing is available to watch on Youtube.

First – Across the Broken Stars was featured as the #1 independently-published book of the week on Reedsy Discovery, a newsletter that gets emailed to 1000s of eager readers.

This was such a fantastic coup for me and I’m eager to see what impact it has on book sales!

Reddit’s fantasy subreddit (r/fantasy) of 770 000+ members featured me as their fantasy author of the day. I did an AMA (Ask Me Anything) and answered a ton of questions about my books, my writing process, and whether my strange hobbies have given me the grip strength to crush bones.

The South Perth Library asked if they could host my book launch for Across the Broken Stars. I said yes! I’ve spent many an hour writing in this library, so it was a special privilege to accept their offer. The book launch event was a wonderful night, mainly filled with me talking enthusiastically about books, writing, and creativity. It was also on my 22nd birthday, which made the night extra special :).

About 60 people came to listen to my presentation about turning ideas into finished things. There was also a wonderful Q & A segment where I answered about 20 questions. After that, I sold and signed books until the wee hours of dawn (AKA, 9pm, which is usually my bedtime anyway).

An amazing young perth filmmaker recorded the whole thing, and you can watch the entire event for free right here on my youtube channel:
